We knew that quantum mechanics can make correct future predictions by storing less information about the past, but how can these predictions be systematically generated? This was an important operational question, as we wanted to avoid situations where a quantum model requires only C bits of past information for predict at specific instances during prediction, but in fact, demanded far more than C bits during other instances.
This manuscript established that the current best, known quantum models could generate future dynamics unitary dynamics. Thus the entropy of the quantum models remains at C at all times during operation. In fact, they may be thought of as an open system that interacts with the environment at discrete time-steps:
